New & Interesting Bike Campenaerts

Very Tron

This. By the time something enters the grid, it’s likely too late.

Probably, I’d be distracted by it and end up smashing into a car or something.

Kinda depends? I’ve never had an issue, but I can’t say how waterproof the charging plugs are. They all have silicone covers. I’ve had my Outbound Detour in the torrential rain and it has functioned perfectly.

Adding a battery pack might be a different story. I don’t think they advertise any IP ratings, but the connector is obviously engineered for the included cable to seal the connection. Nice on the one hand, but makes using any old USB-C cable a problem. Looks like this:

The grommet thing there seals in the angled area around the plug:

I think that’s a good way to use an existing standard interface but add some weather resistance. especially if a brand uses the same modified connector across all their models it doesn’t seem too specific

12-speed mechanical 105?!

I thought this was rumored/sort of announced last year when 105 di2 dropped?

Yeah. wasn’t announced yet by Shimano, but the Jan '22 leak that nailed the June '22 release of Di2 105 also claimed an April '23 release of mechanical 12-speed 105.

We had the discussion here
My desire was the cable pull remains the same as 11 so I can upgrade all my 11s to 12s

right??? i want to use a 105 12-speed shake to take an 11-speed GRX derailleur across the 12-speed 10-45 MTB cassette.

Is the GRX dangler the same pull as 9000/9100?

Believe so, this chart seems to suggest

yes, same as all the 11-speed road parts including 9000/9100

What kinda hub do you need to run shimano 12? I’d love to upgrade to 12s friction.

certain 12s cassettes will fit right on standard 9/10/11 splined hubs! however, the shimano 12s cassettes with the 10t little cog need microspline, and the SRAM units other than the NX Eagle one need XD

Road? 11 freehub

Mtb? Microspline

Well what about an 8-9-10 hub with the little nubbins shaved off to accommodate an 11 speed cassette?
Presumably, a road 12s should fit?
