I had the 3.5 something Lizard Skins on my handlebars for a bit. The Spank Flare upper bars, which are 31.8mm diameter the whole way, looked comically large with that tape.
The tape is very comfy, but they were almost too thick and gushy when combined with gel gloves. Like, Iâd probably learn to love them over time, but it took some adjusting, like using ESI Chunky after more firm grips. Theyâd be great with bare hands or thin gloves.
The only color Iâd ever recommend is black. I got one of the lighter shades, and in one ride it had huge black smudges from my gloves.

Despite having big ol meathooks, I like a thin glove and a thin grip. All that chonk makes my hands go numb.
