I’ve been riding 3x8 friction on my LHT to use up some 8-speed components I had laying around and I think I’ve discovered something about myself in the process lol

Aren’t those indexed?

My ones are.

Only if you suck at friction shifting.

like a lot of things, it’s way easier to say ā€œit’s obviousā€ when it’s already sitting in front of you.

But yeah they really do make stuff like Suntour Command shifters seem extra silly in retrospect. I’ve seen precisely zero (0) fop chariots with Dia Compe’s ā€œWingā€ reproduction/clones installed.

Pretty sure until the advent of STIs, shifting from the hoods wouldn’t have seemed obvious

when did the bike industry start producing levers that were actually comfortable to ride on the hoods? Sure some 1970s levers had ā€œā€ā€œhoodsā€ā€œā€, but yeah I think designing brake levers with real usable hoods is a thing that happened because of STI.

These came out?!

NGL, I like those a lot and have them in the running instead of bar ends for the Salsa Vaya when the Dura Ace triple wears out
