Presta valves are kind of annoying tho. Like it seems that we have them solely because people decided 21-23mm tires on noodly thin rims were cool and fun.
itās nice to replace a core if needed though, or to remove to add sealant
Best new standard would be a lightweight Schrader valve with an easily removable core. So then every pump in the world could have the same head and sealent would be less likely to clog them.
I think someone already did that a couple years ago but they flipped.
I donāt hate presta valves but I must be some kind of gorilla because I am bending the cores all of the time. The clik cores seem cool but maybe not worth replacing all my pump heads and mini pumps
Yeah they get bent all the time.
You must be thinking of MUQZI
MUQZI Tubeless Schrader Valve⦠Amazon.com
(J/k no one is thinking of MUQZI, but I did buy these to successfully tubeless up the rims that were drilled Scherer but looked tubeless on my kidās Giant.)
Wasnāt jones pushing schrader?
Bending presta cores.
Skill issue.
No doubt. And even though I know this, I still slam my pump onto the valve stem when Iām frustrated because my tubeless setup starts to leak when itās over 90 degrees.
This spring I loaned someone a tube on a ride and watched them break the valve stems on both the loaner tube AND the tube I patched for them. It turns out you can twist a Presta valve core into a broken valve stem and it will sort of hold air!
agreed. but also why continue to use something no longer necessitated by rim width constraints instead of a ubiquitous, reliable, robust option that is super easy to add sealant through and offers the most airflow with core removed?
new thing seems kinda neat though and it sounds like it works fine with most pumps. iāll try it if itās not too spendy
Yeah why is there a little needle with a leverage tip on my bike wheel.
Well, I swapped my mtb to schrader lol.
Do we think Schrader valves on bikes need caps
Yes. Skull & bone or dice only though.
I put one of these on my wheelbarrow:
Think Iāve bent one since 2k7
SRAM is making a 12s cassette in 10-52t for HG freehub bodies
whoa. Is that going to be for the EOM transmission?
So youāll need a transmission eagle chain yeah? Which is different than their flat top or other eagle chains yeah?
How do they fit a 10t cog on a HG freehub body?
OEM-only for the dangler / shifter / crank to avoid having to price it or immediately fuck up all the distribution channels, though seems inevitable for it to be on aliexpress unless they keep it restricted to major brand deals
The cassette will have to be an available consumable though
Seems worth it for them to keep establishing AXS, undermining Shimano, and getting more bikes designed with no cable routing on the driveside
But the barrier to entry on wireless electronic shifting is now way lower than mechanical derailleurs ā so ultimately they are feeding the market for Chinese upstarts like Sensah and Ltwoo that donāt have any need bros driving landcruisers in colorado as figureheads
