It’s a nice little touch for the price
$675 doesn’t seem too bad for a Di2 upgrade kit though. It’s $50 more than the GX AXS upgrade kit with the added bonus of not being SRAM

New Surly Straggler. I almost bought the old one in 2015 but neither of the two shops I contacted ever followed up so I bought a Soma online instead. Saved myself a lot of hassle, both specific to buying the Straggler with it’s fucked up drop-outs and by departing from commerce with LBSs.
I’m not a Surly expert but why does this bike exist in the same line-up as the Midnight Special?

Surly has a tradition of fucked up dropouts and they need to keep that going. The current disc trucker has slotted on one side and threads on the other, optimizing it for wheel removal instead of wheel retention atmo. I would have a hard time not yelling at whoever thought that was a good idea.

I hate to admit this but I can see myself buying this shartmo.
The flip side of
is that you get the advantages of QR while being able to use new hubs. I have found out in the last couple of weeks that the world of QR is kinda bleak right now so this is honestly a little appealing. Is it more appealing than just having normal thru axles? Well, no, but the rest of the bike and build seem pretty alright for the money.
Not saying I would rush out to buy one now but if I see a sale in the next year or so I think I would do it

They mimic the feel and stiffness of a true thru-axle and keep the axles captive during wheel removal, so you won’t misplace them.

It lost the fork crown, horizontal tt, and geo it inherited from the CC…other than the dropouts, is there much that sets it apart from any other steel gravgrav frame?
Not arguing any of that should have endured, but it just seems like anything else…sorta like when the Preamble came out.
