avatars decrease usability even with them turned off this board is pretty hard to read. pictures/quotes/join date/location/post count etc should only appear in profiles not with every post.

Wait, your premise is that since njs stuff is easy and cheap to get in Japan, it should be adopted by Americans looking for a simple way to level the playing field? Deathhare i dont get it. Anyway I agree with earlier posters that a level playing field equipment wise is unnecessary at the low levels that most of us will be racing at. At that stage there are massive gains to be had from training (not to mention raw ability) that dwarf whatever advantage or disadvantage you might get from equipment.
i like the idea of a vintage category, not necessarily NJS. just technology pre-80’s but still allow clipless pedals. basically that’d mean box rims and lugged frames…
mander is right though. training, leg strengh/leg speed and racing ‘smart’ (following tactics and positioning) are going to win you way more races than owning an high-tech bike.
although it differs on the event too. obviously one’s kilos and match sprints would benefit from things like disc wheels, tri-spokes and stiff frames.
