Official remember that time Blazedelf was talking about that thing that one time but can't find the thread, thread.

Foss tubes:

Did you ever try some?

No but fyi… http://www.dealextreme.com/p/foss-presta-explosion-proof-inner-tube-for-bicycle-700x20c-23c-69278?item=14

never got around to trying, since they really couldn’t be better than tubeless

Roadbike usage tho?

One of the guys I ride with has not had much success with them. Seems like he gets a flat every other time we ride, and every time it’s at the seam. Apparently there was a bad batch, he sent them back to wherever he purchased them and they are sending him some new tubes from a different lot.

My one skinny clincher road bike has 23mm Huthinson Atom road tubeless tires, and after hearing of success from someone who outweighs me by a hundred pounds I might try a tubeless conversion using 28mm Ultremo ZX tires.

My other road bike has tubulars and my all-road bike has Hetres (which I also need to convert).

Deets on front light setup pictured here?

Also, I remember being interested in a bag setup you had on this bike for rando usage maybe? what did that look like again?

light is phillips i think, bag is ortlieb-y but not ortlieb

aka, useless response til bill himself can respond

Front light setup looks like a B&M with Lumotec mount.

It’s an IXON IQ on their new-style brake mount that works like the dyno ones / actually fits behind calipers: http://www.biketechshop.com/busch-and-muller-fork-crown-mount-for-ixon-iq-bike-light-p-2377.html

I have several of the older ones, they were kinda cool in that the mounting shoe angle was indexed and couldn’t slip, but they were oddly shaped and broke easily, I really just got them to harvest the discrete mounting shoe from (which I used on L-brackets on my Kogswell)

It’s intercompatible with planet bike light brackets

The handlebar bag is the Lone Peak Alta, really it’s a Rixen & Kaul knockoff not really like the ortlieb ones.

Setting up the mount is a pretty huge bitch, 4 phillips wood screws into plastic for the clamp, and then two more to fix the anti-rotation cord that goes around your stem. You really have to install it at a jaunty angle and then mallet it down taut, often takes several tries to guess the length right to get it ending up level. It will still slip eventually if you put a u-lock or bottles/beers in it, the cord eventually gets shredded too. It’s also just water resistant enough to accumulate an inch of water inside from spray off your wheel riding in real rain.

Despite all that it’s still pretty awesome to have a modern no-reenactment handlebar bag that goes on any bike and is actually useful.

I wanna bookmark Fred’s fender installation technique but can’t find it on the search. Anybody got a hook-up? Fred, you wanna re-write?

kevin, you talking about the bbill post about halfway down this page?

http://tarckbike.com/node/10513?page=778 (idk how to directly link to a single post in a thread)

Yo Fred. What are the re-branded DT Swiss 240 road hubs again? Reynolds and what else? Anything in 24/28?

Ritchey, Coda, Specialized, and Bontrager all used DT at various times. Seen them both pop on ebay. Shop bro scored a Ritchey one with 240 internals for less than wholesale on a 350.

Set of DT Coda hubs to 28 hole bullcrap mavic rims for $175

Coda 4 bolt and Rohloff 4 bolt are the same I think… Last I checked Magura USA still had 4 bolt rotors.

not the same, the reason rohloffs have a different standard is because the bolt circle needed to be 50% bigger

They might still have them still… we had an old Cdale in with muffed up Magura Julies. I talked to somebody there about replacement stuff and the guy ended up getting a new bike so never ordered but 99% sure they had rotors still.
