Pavement bikes

Interesting, it’s been kind of hit or miss with the vendors at work, so we’ll see. I shot em an email.

damn, interested in the first one

those Workswell bikes - note the highly ominous “special” headset and seatpost.

Not saying it’s a bad idea to buy them, just would prefer to have a frame that takes commonly available parts

headset isn’t too worrisome and honestly neither is the seatpost since I would absolutely get a bike with a seatmast that can only be cut once. In this day and age You could draw up the rough shape of the interior and 3d print an adapter to round and be fine if you absolutely needed to.

yeah, fair, as someone who has access to a 3d printer but no knowledge of how to make it brrrrrr I’m usually in the market for the simplest, most ebay-able parts possible.

I like assembling bikes and building wheels as a part of a broader bike hobby manifold, but I definitely don’t want to be on the hook for parts fabrication. Except for my stupid, tilting at windmills plan to make really fancy downtube cable adjusters.

I can’t stop thinking about how I want a canyon endurance. It’s been a week, which means this is real, right?

yeah, you should buy one, if they are still available. should be good for distance road stuff. if they’re out, see if a norco dealer has any Search AR in your size, i’m curious to see what someone with correct bike opinions thinks of those

Just sent out a feeler to find an AL Search to test ride.

Giant Defy and Ribble Endurance look nice and very close to the canyon at a nice price for cf with r7000

Of course im presently not allowed to buy a new bike but hopefully in the next few months I can fall on a nice gig

I’m always looking for road frames that fit a wider tire, ideally take fenders, but are designed for actual road riding, not commuting or touring. That Norco Search seems like a good candidate, as does All City’s Zig Zag.

I have a weird lust for the Aethos which is the first time I’ve felt a tingling from a carbon fiber bike.

The Aethos is definitely a very nice bike aimed more at how most people here tend to ride road bikes. If they made it in my size, I’d definitely consider getting a frameset

You need a bike bigger than 61 cm big boy?

absolutely, yes. 59.5 tt is an inch shorter than my normal road bike size.

I’ve fit onto bikes that small, but it feels really off, and limits my component choices.

If it were a cheap city commuter bike, it would be fine. For that kind of money, I’d rather talk to Crumpton or Appleman.

I really lovehate that they painted aethos to look kinda aluminumy

I mentioned it earlier in my rambling up thread , and then @russ said it much more succinctly. I real low hope the alley gets a similar treatment to the aethos. Or they make an aethos dsw or some such

The price of the aethos has me thinking I can get most of the way there on an older simpler frame with a modern group and wheels. I know it’s not that simple, it probably won’t have thru axle x dick brakes or the latest carbon, but as long as it fits 28s or similar sized and be 9/8 threadless it’s good to go.

Maybe I’m to poor to imagine spending that much on a road bike.
