Pavement bikes

Sure, but if you start with a steel bike that’s just a bit of work with hacksaw & torch. (Or hiring a framebuilder™ to do that work for you.)

okay im still on the hunt here, what a wild time to have a hole burning in my pocket for a bike

id really like something not steel with thru axles and hydro brakes

sat on a Giant Contend today, felt really nice, but that one was already sold and itll be at least july before more come in. same timeframe for Tiagra Canyons, no date for 105 Canyons.

used market exists but there really arent any TA bikes around because theyre all too new

Orbea orca has a tiagra spec. M40 is the model designation I believe

Are you looking for a real road bike or something that can take a bit wider tires.

The GT Grade is fantastic. I rode the first generation carbon, which I imagine is even better now, and the aluminum looks spicy but the spec is pretty low.

good luck in your quest :crossed_fingers:

less wider tires, 30-32 would make me happy
non-brutal road bike

essentially the bike that everyone makes and is impossible to buy right now

What size? 58 IIRC?

somewhere between there and 56. 6’ with long legs.
current bike has a 575 TT with 100mm stem

Ok tell me if this is dumb or not
Have an opportunity for nice $$ tor a 2018 Contend

Disc but Has that weird Giant Conduct hydro system and is QR

But my thought is is this is a stopgap until better bikes and groups are available in a year

Any reason not to?

don’t do it!!!

If this makes you reconsider buying the bike, I can only imagine what its going to be like to try and sell it in a year.

Heard loud and clear!

What is this? I’m imagining the entire bike is filled with hydraulic fluid to eliminate cables and improve aerodynamics

Master cylinder on the stem that is actuated by cable. It’s a bit much

IIRC it was a totally a stopgap because hydro levers were just coming on to the market en masse and they wanted to hit a lower price point

Oh man that sounds like the worst of all worlds.

I like my idea of filling the bike with hydraulic fluid

In my experience (assembling and test riding one entire bike) it was way better than the TRP parabox.

But the bar was set there, and no limbo champion can get themselves under a bar that low. Even the ones with the rollerskates.

found a Contend AR 1 two hours away, just pulled the trigger and will pick up in a few days

(only difference is that i once i bought has praxis cranks instead of the shimanos)

$1900 after tax for a brand new 105 bike aint too bad
of course ive never spent anywhere that amount on a bike before so :colbert:

Congrats! Those seem really cool. Ton of clearance, good geo, fender mounts, disk brakes, not stupid heavy, that 105 is supposed to really good. I think you did really well! Good find!

Are you gonna swap tires? I think at that price point it’s already toobless
