platform pedalsss?

I’ve thought about adding grip tape of some kind to the center of my T780s

Shimano has a replacement T8000 pedal coming at the end of the summer that’s a little chunkier with real traction pins

oh daaang
What about platform/clipless hybrids? I’ve read nothing but good things about these, other than them not having great grip…which could be remedied with some DIY pins.

Any others that people love? My crank brothers mallets finally fell apart.
I rode the PD-M324 (or whatever the equivalent part number was at the time) for 6 years on my daily driver. It was a terrible platform and a partially terrible clipless pedal if you’re not used to road pedals. I ended up shit-canning them after I lost the clipless mechanism on one of the pedals due to my poor bike maintenance regime. One MTBro just acquired a bike with A530s and he says they are terrifying.

The PD-MX80 pedals are pretty good, from what my MTBros that ride them say. I’ve been kicking the shit out of some 45NRTH Heiruspecs for the last year with pretty good results. I have big feet, so a slightly wider platform has been good. That said, I’m really missing the full spin of clipless and will probably be ditching the platforms for M530s with a proper mountain shoe after the season is over.

I tried that on they wife’s pedals but it didn’t last ended up using a dremel to cut some ridges into the platform seems to have helped a little? She hasn’t complained anyway…

I was pretty content with the Odyssey Twisted PC x Hold Fast straps collabo I used for two years. Didn’t have any trouble with traction on the pedal… though they can be tough to get in/out of while fixed.

That T8000 looks siiiiiick and I will be buying one from Germany as soon as they come out

I’ve hit my plastic diety compound plastic pedals on trail shit and they’re going strong. They were $40 or so.

Anything I should look at in the price point of the Raceface Chester that has escaped me?
Purple is good.

Nah, get the Chester. I picked up a pair of saints for my new bike and I don’t think they grip as well as the Chesters on my commuter. Will probably pick up another pair of Chesters because I know they work for me and they come in a nice matchy match blue.

I dig my chesters as well I find them plenty sticky

I haven’t tried chesters so maybe this is moot, but I quite like fyxation mesa MPs, which are a similar spec tho a bit more expensive if you don’t have a Q hookup. comes in purple

J&B still has discounted “blemished” stock of their super slim flats for super cheap. Probably not Rusty compatible but we have sold a bunch. Seems fine.

real interested, but I’m not seeing the blems listed?

Message me tomorrow. I’ll find the part #
