The LB Falcon Pro are nice and strong and wide, and the braking is good combined with the Campagnolo Red brake pads

I’m on my third set of aluminum rims for the 24/20h dynamo wheelset on my Time, and I think I’m going to re-rim it for the last time with these in the 46.5mm depth
Great link, thanks, those go on the short list. Most carbon roadie rims don’t work because of my clydesdale fat ass, but those have a high enough weight limit. Might look pretty bad-ass with the skinny steel tubes, too. And LB is easy to get here.
Related, I was looking through my bike pics, and it amazes me how even a few years ago the brake tracks on the H+Son looked so pristine. Now they’re trashed - both wheelsets. It feels oddly good to completely wear things out.
Yet another DQ: how’s the rim braking on carbon rims nowadays?
I know it used to suck, and now it’s better, but is it as good? Upgrading the brake track on LB wheels to the ‘grooved Graphene surface’ looks like a no-brainer, but even with that, is it enough?
Asking because poor braking is the #1 reason I ride Snowaguchi less than my modern bikes.
the stock LB pads sucked for me
with the grooved graphene surface and nice pads the braking was “good enough”
it’s not “as good” compared to well-maintained clean aluminum rims, but it is more consistent and doesn’t generate so much wear/filth over time
The PUB rims with Campy pads work pretty good.
But he can’t buy any of those

I would also look at the Vaast U1 and the Fairdale weekender. The lack of tubeless ready wheels and disposable crank shouldn’t be completely overlooked.

I noticed that (cranks, rims), too. As usual, I’m in between the M and L sizes. I have short legs for my height (5’10”), and I’m thinking the M with a slightly longer stem might be the way to go (I’d have zero standover clearance on the L).
