This looks so much bigger than the numbers in the drawing
I specified I wanted a 30mm thru axle
Dig the Pegoretti ‘Big Leg Emma’ style chainstays - that’s a beast
Didn’t specify this as a look or anything, but it’s the same tubing. Frame is a mix of life and spirit.
It’s within a few millimeters of my Vaya Travel, which I’m in the process of updating to modernize everything. Good to see a few other big bikes in the 'tarck.
…and gratuitous slab gallery
Have most parts spec’d out or purchased but still need bars and stem. Was thinking of going all silver above the frame.
Anyone have experience with brifters and a rando bag? how much space do I need to leave, or do I need to find bars that flare out?
Think Nitto B135 would be a good choice?
R6800 shakes, 42 cm bars, and a standard sized Swift bag are fine. Shifting 3 cogs in one swipe is finicky - the lever hits the bag, but 2 is no problem.
The two questions with the B135 are:
- are your wrists are okay with that angle.
- do those bars actually put the hoods any further apart than a standard drop bar?
I would also add:
- Will you be okay with the length of the hoods plus the 105mm reach on the bars themselves?
Hm my current bars have 73mm. If I was planning on using a 100mm stem would this mean I’d need a 70mm stem with these?
So, I need new H+Son Archetypes for my rim brake bike.
However, since the last time I bought them, they’ve done a new thing - they anodize the brake track, so the wheel is a uniform color instead of having a silver stripe.
How quickly does that wear through and start to show silver streaks on the brake track?
Black looks best on my bike, but if it’ll start to have ugly streaks then I’m assuming the gray will look better longer.
any moment now
the website describes the archetype as being a machined brake track and the hydra as being the same shape but for disc brakes
are you just going by a photo or have you seen an archetype without a machined brake track in person?
Retrogression has the best pics that show it, and there’s also this description there:
brake surface is polished/anodized after machining for a non-machined look
Assuming you use the brakes a bit when riding, it’ll wear the ano off the entire brake track pretty quickly, the intermediate stage isn’t long.
I’d do grey.
No desire to upgrade to tubeless rims?
Tubeless rim brake rims, fit for a clydesdale? Do tell!
Remember, I’m in Yurop, so availability can be a problem.
I’ve got some cheap Alex ones that aren’t Adventurer 2, but those look good too. In Euroland, probably DT Swiss r460 or something?
