So I am still planning a tracklocross bike but actually enjoying riding my Peugeot that I was going to convert…. I am already pre-dithering intermediate builds before I go tracklocross, so maybe I will just snag another frame from my coop. Anyway. Here are my bar options to date. I have a spare wood shipper and adventure max but Id need a 1 inch to 1/8 th converter.

Oh shit. I keep forgetting about tire clearance. My Peugeot has heaps. But the Avanti Super Sprint at the coop will likely be rubbish. Both road frames from early 70’s. Something like this.
Time to crimp the fuck out of some stays.

been thinking about how to build up the new black mountain monsterfross I have in the garage. taking apart a bike for parts is not appealing. also spending money on parts is not appealing.
then I considered doing a monsterfross fixed gear. wow, that just autocorrected to monsterfross from my previous typo. is monsterfross now a word? yes, its no longer trying to correct it.
anyway. I have some surly open bars for it, canti brakes and levers. that means a cheap flip flop, big tires, and a cheap crank and i’ve got a scorcher of sorts.

HY. I sometimes hate the horizontal dropouts on mine, but I know one day I’ll make it singlespeed or fixed and then I’ll be grateful they’re there.
Also rim brake road wheel stuff is at the bottom of the depreciation curve right now. So if you do decide to spend money on it, some very nice stuff can be had for peanuts.
Reminder to get a proper spaced rear hub, maybe a singlespeed/disc hub so you can run it SS or use a bolt-on cog for fixed. Most cheap 700c flippy-flops are 120 spaced, (as I knew but forgot to check last time I tried something similar).

It’s a cross check. It has 132.5 spacing, it can take a 130 or 135, but it wants the 120. Let it show you what sort of flexing it’s capable of.

Looking at getting a straggler fork for my fixed. Reason for that fork is it clears 50s, disc/rack mounts and straight 1 1/8 steerer. Any reason to go any more fancy than that? Not concerned about weight.
