Not a real 29er but I think you can fit nano 40s in a steamroller.
I got 55mm tires into a Crosscheck, not sure if it has more generous clearances than a Steamroller. Also I couldnât inflate them past about 15psi. It looked cool as HELL but rode really really terribly.
If you lop off the SS dropouts, respace to 145, and put sliders in it will push the wheels back ~1" and down ½"; that plus a new fork with a cross crown gives a satisfying amount of extra clearance.
I had cross tires in my steamroller BITD, still had room for beat to shit wheels that werenât up for that level of abuse.
a 28er

i guesstimated 11 with a 99% confidence interval of ~5
(so yeah iâm 99% confident i have at most 16 bikes)
How bikes do you own?
I many bike!
How 9speed bike you own?
I haz 7
You have 63 speeds?
4x9, 1x8, 1x7, 2x10, 1x11
4x9, the drive train of the future (when the inevitable 1x backlash begins)
No matter what gear youâre in, youâre somehow cross chained.
2 x 11 + 2 x 11 + 2 x 10 + 3 x 9 + 3 x 9 = 118 speedz
1x12 + 1x11 + 1x10 + 2x11 + 3x8 = 79
The 3x8 will be 1x12, the 1x10 will be 1x11 and the 1x11 will be 1x12 to get me 69 speeds.
oh thatâs fun
I have 74 total speeds
18.5 speeds per bike
1x11+3(2x11)+1x12=89 gears total, an average of 17.8 per bike, a median and mode of 22
Remember to add one additional speed to your calculation: walking bike
