they have been making this, Bike Bag , for a long time[/quote]
I checked that one out, but I"m using a 2 point attachment barrel shaped bar bag made by some other company these days, and with any weight in it, it sucks. It bounces around a lot.
I had a Banjo Brothers barrel bag that’s half Brooks bag, half hbarbag. It was good overall, but nearly impossible to get into or re-close while riding. It did have an elastic ht strap that helped keep it from bouncing or getting into the cabling. It was also like $20, which is closer to Jandd pricing than “one dude with a bigcartel and a sewing machine and a fondness for wearing cycling caps while not cycling” pricing.
If it’s anything like their “gasstank” bag it sucks.
The gasstank thing interferes with steering and rubs your knees with every pedal stroke and gets all up in your bits when you straddle the top tube.
FS: one Relevate Gasstank bag. Like new condition. Make offer.

This is probably all true. I’ve never used one on a bike. But the magnetic closure on that one seems way better than a zipper.
Every bikepacking bag on the market copies Revelate. Eric did it first, and he did it right. All of their bags have been pretty cutting edge since the start. The dude has done a ton of crazy trips and used real-world testing to decide how he was gonna make stuff. I habe a lot of respect for Revelate.
This video rocks, it’s Eric and his buddy fatbiking the Alaskan coast with first-gen Pugsleys, way before any bikepacking gear (as we know it today) existed.
Yup, pretty much. Their stuff is expensive but totally worth it. I understand how some of the stuff might not be perfect for everyone but there’s no denying the quality of the product overall.
Some of the Revelate fasteners are pretty fragile. We saw a few examples of them breaking in the lead up to the Tour Aotearoa. Zips can be a problem too but usually in muddy scenarios. They are pretty light though and that keeps a lot of people happy.
Going poopbarning this weekend with LadyBiek and she doesn’t have the required items. So I lent her a couple of mine, and now I’m struggling to get everything to fit.
She ended up with a surly rear rack on the front of her krampus (lol) because we couldn’t strap anything onto the handlebars without jeapordizing the hydrodick hoses, this is sure to be a complete shitshow. I can’t wait.

If you’re heading up this way you can borrow my front roll with 2" rigid standoffs.
