What shakes are you using? Friend has fancy sugino compact double setup with 10sp veloce shakes (hubbub shimano 9 for rear) and top pull CX70 and isn’t happy with how each upshift moves it (could be the difference between powershift/escape and ultrashift/micro ratcheting front shifting though?)
Sounds like the CX70 is worth a shot with the 11sp chorus shakes & Ritchey compact cranks, also 32-48, if I can’t get the 8sp XT to work right or find one of Fred’s recommended CT mechs.
was curious about reports of sramergo being a thing. I want to put campy on the ritchey, but don’t really feel like dropping the coin on a full new group and trying to unload my red group (which is likely worthless). The only bike I have with campy shifters is the raleigh, so I swapped on the rear derailleur and wheels.
I’ve only had a chance to ride it a little around the block, but so far… not terribly impressed. It’s operational, but some gears need a little english to get it to shift. works about as well as campy 10 mated to shimano 8, which i thought was worse than my sram shifting. I could see some people being satisfied enough with it though.
I’m gonna give it a little more time, since I like the ergo shape a whole lot more than sram’s. but this system definitely has its flaws

blakey: using 7900 bar ends with 6700 rd and cassette, cx70 fd. shifting is perfect, but I hate the setup. integrated shifting is the best thing ever and I’m not sure why I took a time machine back to 1989 when I built this bike up. need to sell these shifters and a couple other things to fund another pair of 6700 shifters. anyways, I’ve heard that in a shimergo situation, campy front derailleurs are a better choice. something about differing spring tensions, but that might be bullshit. anyway, I have a pair of centaur 10s ergos that I thought about shimergoing with, but I inevitably read poor reviews and put them back into my parts box because I dont want to be bothered. I’m too obsessive to allow crunchy, finicky shifting on my bikes.
but then again, all of this shit is unorthodox and somewhat experimental. hard to say what will work and what wont. the cx70 is a damn fine fd and a good place to start. I’d get one + a campy ct whatever fred recommended. see which one works best, flip the other.

My friend clarified, the actual shifting with CX70 / campy shakes is fine, he’d also read about spring tension issues, but it’s the 4 indexed positions on his shifter that aren’t playing nice.
Given the difficulty of finding the right CT mech, I think I’ll just get a CX70 and call it good. Found a super cheap ramped/pinned 46T 94bcd ring on ebay, so I’m homing in on the solution.

Pretty sure CT is just Campy speak for compact if that helps while searching, they came in most (all?) group levels.
Yep, CT: compact, the triple mechs have a T on them. Include (compact, CT) in your search and then filter visually for the pointy inner cage.

New weight, according to my luggage scale, is 13.8 lbs. For some reason I’m doubting it’s accuracy.

Yeah… except going forward they are moving away from open molds. All the thru axle road/cross stuff is their design. That’s what is holding up the straight full carbon disc jawn is the fact that they want to actually do it right in the context of the overall direction that QBP is taking with Whiskey/Foundry
