The 1.125" Whisky fork with the alloy steerer IS the Winwood one. Q bought up the whole stock and stuck new paint on 'em. I rode one for a while, it’s a perfectly good fork, but not as nice as the full-carbon Whisky ones.
Spot fork has an alloy steerer too.
Full carbon + straight steerer is pretty much a no-go.

Whisky IS Winwood, just with mpls hipsters doing the graphics and marketing this time around.
QBP created both, and Winwood was wound down just as Whisky started selling the same old open-mold shit. The same forks show up on Bikesdirect bikes, in SBS and on Redlines, and from a variety of eBay sellers.

Trigon is the house brand of the OEM for those generations of Ritchey forks.
The axle-to-crown is 420mm, and they always weigh under 500g with an uncut 300mm steerer. Never heard of any trouble with one either, and they clear CX tires no problem. But with that axle to crown, you pretty much have to design the frame around it.

obviously you can go beyond Shimanos ratings, but it’s not gonna perform as well.
why recommend that over a derailleur that is rated 30-52?

It’s Shimano of course it works excellent.
But when you get out of the norm with pushers you really tend to want less shaping not more, to preserve clearances and not have bulbous shit get in the way.
The CX-70 has several extra bonuses for this situation:
The outer cage is curved to a much tighter radius, it’s optimized for a 46t big ring and can’t take more then 50t.
The tail of the cage doesn’t extend so far down, so you can move it down really far without it hitting the chainstay.
Just rode it on a bunch of Rivendells with megafred gearing setups, worked really terrific.
The other secret FD for this situation are the Campy CTs from 07 & 08. They also have a hard 50t max on the outer, and the inner plate extends super far down in a triangle like on some triple pushers, but still having a trad double pusher profile. I’ve got the Chorus one on my rSogn.
Rivendell used to have a huge deadstock of Mirage CT pushers, and now they sell the CX-70.
running cx70 w/ a 48-32 wi vbc setup. rules.
previously had xtr m900 triple fd that I never was happy with
despite having the profile & shape & capacity for such chainrings.
the arc of the swing was too long, if that makes any sense.
also had a fsa gossamer c-16 fd that performed well
recommended despite being fsa. braze-on $20 ebay dealio. good stuff.
1.125 straight carbon disc fork is relevant to my interest.
traded a bike i didn’t ride enough for this in stock form. added the bars, stem, saddle, post, tires, XD triple and BB5s all from the bike mess. probably going to swap a bunch of apex i already own onto it, but the shimano 2300 8sp stuff is actually pretty good, if you don’t mind the thumb buttons.

Yep. I remember the Trigon coming up when I was getting the money together for Carl to build me that frame. I decided that I wanted more conventional cross fork dimensions.
Now if only I had thought to have him do a 44mm head tube. Oh well. It wasn’t much of a thing then.
Unless Whisky actually coughs up the full crabon straight fork they’ve mentioned I will probably not be getting a crabon frok.
