Maybe, but if your green jersey guy is struggling to make the time cut on a tough mountain stage can you afford to send somebody back to help him? Will they have anything left?
I am fascinated to see how Cav fairs this year. I think it’s fair to ask how much of his success was due to an entire team dedicated to his success. HTC had arguably the fastest sprinter, but almost certainly the best organized and most dedicated leadout team.
At any rate, I am excited, as I feel the sprint finishes will be more competitive (and hopefully more exciting) this time around.
Sky has no GC contender. They’ll keep Wiggo protected and safe for the first week while they run trains on my sister, er, FOR Cavendish, and will keep Manxy in the thick of the sprints. The green is very attainable and these days highly covetable so I’m guessing that’s priority #1 for Sky
