Yeah, he crash pretty dang hard. Bummer that, barring a major implosion, no one seems up to the task of taking on Remco. That said, he’s been pretty impressive without much in the way of team support.
Was great seeing Rigo take a stage

Yeah, when he got back on the bike, sunnies askew, you knew it wasn’t good. Then the barriers and blood. Yeesh.
Am I off base in feeling like this Vuelta has been both not very hard and also not very competitive? Seems like years past have had long steep climbs that this year’s doesn’t. Remco’s definitely been unmatched, but doesn’t feel particularly dominant.
late pass but there was lots of tramadol talk back in the early team sky days. “finish bottles” to dull the pain for the final push.
For sure. I know it is the less desired on, but in past viewings I was thinking it had packed a few tougher climbing stages with less fanfare. This is def a bit underwhelming, but Remco is still doing his shit and no one can keep up. Covid and crashes, but new normal this year.
Boring race aside, Carapaz has been incredible, shame he fell behind on GC so early
Based on the point relegation rule is EF done? No more US pro tour teams?
Maybe?
It’s dumb to me… With the points, because EF have been so animating and present in all of the grand tours, but not picking up points in smaller races like it seems that some of the continental teams are. Maybe it’s just because I’m a fan from the US, but to me it seems like their presence has value.
I can’t imagine race organizers appreciate team leaders dropping out of grand tours to pursue points in smaller races. It’s not a good look for anyone, especially the UCI. I fully expect the points system to change, but I’m not sure we’ll see 20 WT teams next year.
If you weren’t watching the women’s worlds, I suggest watching the last 5km. Fucking unreal.
I’m riding down to Wollongong tomorrow to watch the men’s race, hoping for some excitement.
Glad the GCN recap was about 30 minutes. I started watching last night, but it started as bed time approached.
But hell of a last crack there. Loved the finish line ‘celebration.’
Women’s winner interview and memes to contextualize my comment above.
