really bad handlebar/lever setups itt

Those bars are awkwardly erect

Other than the bar setup and the generally terrible fit, I’m not sure that there is a whole lot wrong with the bike?

Excluding those two things, can someone tell me why it’s horrible?

I was riffing on the saddle / bar / stem, but if we’re going in on the thing: one bottle cage, qr seat collar on a road bike. But mostly the contact points, this is, after all, bad handlebar setup thread.

The bike appears to be a stock road bike from 15 years ago:

I guess, yay? It’s a sign of the general weirdness of the 1995-2003 era in road bikes that the thing came with freaky paired spoke wheels AND a quill stem.

And lbr, imagine how easily that bike could be transformed into a sweet ass road bike. Correct the contact points, ergoz ban! and normal wheels. would ride.

The uncoordinated mix of silver and black components tells me aesthetic was not considered at all. Disqualified from being “porn.” I mean, fuck, if you’re going to post a stock machine, ANY OTHER color of $15 bar tape would be an improvement.

At least they ditched the totally inappropriate blue saddle.

Why would you paint/powdercoat your bars? …but also not paint your stem?

Jakub's Rusty Huntsman 650b by Kristofer Henry, on Flickr

A “Rusty Huntsman” eh?

I saw that on Instagram. What a gross looking finish

and a gross radlawn rack too

if it’s the same rust-texture powdercoat I used it’ll rub right off anyway

My fargo butt pimple is gonna blow the roof off this thread.

What did you use that powdercoat on? The rack for the Holstein elephant?

yeah front and rear

it looks good but isn’t for anything that sees wear

would work well on a forged aluminum stem, basically the inverse of that build

Fred can u plz talk more about the best for bike use powdercoat

Pulled from the Roadrunner bags site. What the fuck?

It’s illegal to have normal drop bars now. You have to be a rowdy fella who needs flare for days so that you can #getoutside and bikepack. I tried to ride my road bike with Zipp SL88’s offroad once, and the repulsively vertically aligned hoods and bar ends made me vomit with disgust as I crashed my bike repeatedly.

66.6cm flared drops or you’re just posing.

I feel like many of the DerpDrop users would be better served by Jones Loop bars.

I’ve lost count of all the comments I’ve gotten for running regular Deda drop bars on my NFE.

What would be the bar de rigueur for an NFE? Cow Chippers or whatever?

Something that looks like you walk around like a gunslinger in a western, arms out at the sides ready to draw but not actually on your gun handles.
