BMC is hella sexy. There’s also something about the Salsa that appeals to me. If you were building a road bike up to be your only bike, I’d say go with the Salsa, since it seems like more of a lock-up kind of bike but I imagine that’s not the case. If I’m right, go with the somewhat impractical but sexy and probably awesomely fast BMC. Especially because the BMC costs less than the Salsa. You’re not gonna go too wrong with any of these bikes, though.
The salsa looks way to sissy for carl’s taste. The BMC has the incredibly tacky amounts of stickers and lettering all over it, and also makes you look rich, which is right up carl’s alley.
why are we worrying about this? he’s gonna get one now, and another in 2 weeks when he crashes the first one.

i’m just teasing you Carl.
No teasing allowed!
Tarck is Serious Business.
The Scattante is a really great frame. I bought the XRL comp (no carbon stays) , in black, about a year ago for less than $200 to replace a broken frame and was surprised how nice of a frame it was. I doubt you can find a better road frame for that amount of money. Personally, I wouldn’t bother spending the extra for the carbon stays.
They take 4-6 weeks to get but you really can’t get a better sub $1000 road frame than a Cannondale Caad9. I sell more caad9s than anything else to crit racers looking for a solid bike that straight up performs for cheap. Plus they have a lifetime warranty and crash replacement. They are coming in flat black for 2009 and I am pretty sure they are taking orders for 2009 models already.
^ - Totally true. I don’t own a Cannondale, and have no plans to buy one, but the fact of the matter is that Cannondale is basically the best bike maker in the world, for people who have to BUY their bikes. For less than $1000, the CAAD9 is lighter and stiffer than almost any bike costing two or three times as much.
Rumor has it that I’m ordering this on Friday. I blame zombie.
Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Fuck yes.
Anyone wanna buy a 2006 49cm Masi Vincere frame?
Is it vertically stiff yet laterally compliant?
It let’s my wheels roll while supporting my weight on top of them. Pretty bitching stuff.
Damn!
Than’t amazing.
Yeah I got one too… TWINSIES!
$$$?
Hot crap Carl where do you get your $$
My girlfriend bought me the frame and some Ultegra to Open Pros because I looked so pathetic walking in the door dragging the last frame I crunched.
All my cash right now (not much) comes from working part-time as an assistant video editor (basically just logging footage, the most tedious job of all time). But beyond burritos and bikes, I don’t really have any expenses.
Ohh, and if you want to buy the broken oscilloscope I found in my storage yesterday, I can buy some of those carbon bars that keep popping up on chainlove too.
