Medium slow maybe? The display shows human power input that’s measured by the BB so I’ll have to take it out tomorrow to see what that shows. It’s always shown much higher human power than I’d expect given how much effort I put in. Could just be a slightly funky unit.
Time for linkglide?
If it was a mid-drive then maybe? Not sure that would help here since the party is all in the front on this thing. Other than forgetting to shift down before stopping and getting stuck in the 42x11 it’s just a normal (80 lb plus cargo) bike in the drivetrain area.
Maybe a Di2 Alfine 11 IGH instead.
Without a chain and pedaling just right the BB is saying I’m generating as much as 90-100W. It was pretty easy to maintain 15 mph in that sweet spot with the highest assist setting (400%) on a flat road.
Turns out there wasn’t a chain tool or a spare quick link in the bag, so I’m pretty happy this happened close to home.
Well that’s a really neat ebike benefit!
Ugh, bent my pusher cage today. I was pedaling through some bumpy stuff and my chain got too rowdy on my 46t bikingreen ring. It got kind of a crosswise set and my body weight did the rest.
It’s done this in the past but while soft pedalling.
Does anyone have a thing they do to keep this from happening?
i’m actually in shock. i feel like i lost a family member. hoping repairable?
I am not a frame buildeur, but I see that as 100% repairable.
That’s fixable. You should get it repaired. It’ll be a heckova lot cheaper than a new frame. I too am not a buildeur, but I’ve seen those repaired by flowing some brass into the crack. Another option is to drill a hole on either end of the crack to prevent continued propagation. Worst case scenario, the seatube can be replaced.
It’s pretty close to the fillet though. I think even if we get it fixed, still probably putting a deposit down on a new Co-Motion anyways.
oh sick.
We are just very sentimentally attached to this one.
It’s also really bad timing bc we just bought a used travel Tandem instead of biting the bullet and puting a deposit down on Co-Motion then.
Does it fit well?
Get a new tandem section?
It’s not completely dead; I’d lop off the top of the tube, then sleeve an extension on to make up for the missing height (and get a REALLY LONG chairpost to cut down on the stresses at the top of the sleeve.)
I’ve had 3 frames with this exact failure mode fixed for customers. It’s about as easy as it gets.
Broke my second Ottolock, RIP. I think these are a wear item and need a bit more TLC to extend their life.
They did replace the first time and give 50% off coupon the second time so can’t be that sad.
They said they have made a bunch of improvements on the newer model including more reliable innards. My second seems to have died from “Activated Breakaway Button” But interestingly I was still able to yank the ribbon out with the code set despite it clamping down with high pressure.

I use my daughters tiny cable lock for “coffee stops.” it uses a word to unlock. the word is DUST. way cheaper than an otto lock and probably more secure. it’s also sparkly purple
This is a first for me, just snapped while I was shifting. I think maybe this stuff wasn’t made to hold up to bikecamping all the time.
Do you shift harder when camping than when doing a non camping ride?
