Say it ain't so: The Assploded Bike Parts Picture Thread.

Well it was fun while it lasted!

Think Selle will give me a new saddle even though I’m technically the second owner?

Imma say, no.

How?

If it was my saddle it would be 100% due to superman CX remounts.
Have done it before.

Physical phatness.
I guess a 200-210 pound person is too much for these saddles.

Is that a shard of plastic that you sucked out of a brake system.

Looks like a hair tie

“don’t pull on that, you don’t know what it’s attached to!”

Selle Anatomica saddles are super strange. I had one of the ones without the slot (well, still have…) and I bent the fuck out of that one enough times that retired it rather than break it.

On the other hand, I have one with the slot that is like 8 years old that I’ve put thousands of miles with no bending. Though that one lives on a bike where I put more weight forward? Anyway they can be extremely comfortable but I’ll never buy another one

I’ve got one of the “X” models and have stretched the hell out of it, though I’m not really that heavy. I stopped using it ages ago cos I just couldn’t get it to stop squeaking, I even bought their anti-squeak gasket which did nothing.
It’s a shame, cos it’s a very comfy saddle. Maybe I’ll give it another shot?

Try shooting some spray lube at it. I think they recommend some sort of powdered graphite lubricant but honestly I think I put some wd40 or chain lube on it every once in a while and that quiets it down.

I have tensioned mine quite a bit over the years but I think it has got to a point where it needs less tension to be comfortable so I don’t adjust it as much as I used to. I also thought that I would run out of adjustment but it hasn’t happened yet

Didn’t think of that. I tried something once (can’t remember what) but it didn’t work. I also have graphite powder, might try that first before I gum things up.
I ran out of adjustment on the original bolt, bought a new longer one. I wasn’t being heavy-handed with tightening either, it just got super saggy. Seems to be a lot of consistency issues with their products.

It’s an o ring from a sram bleed fitting

Oh, I did not have that one on my bingo card. Sounds more rare than the teflon tape worms.

Not a lot of 31.6 rigid posts around the shop at this moment, should I yolo this cracked Thomson on my Bullitt?

Depends.
I think with this crowd you’re just looking for people to tell you to throw it away.

How do you feel about perineal lacerations?

I can think of more enjoyable ways to risk that type of injury

I once had the bolt shear off on a cheap Kalloy post. I fell straight down on the back tire.

The only thing that saved my junk from going through the seatstays was the brake booster I had.
