Their too clever naming conventions make it really hard to find any useful information about their bikes online. Open Up, Open Wide, Open mind.

I guess they know their target market!
SEO engineers they’re not
there is no way to keep water out, only ways to keep water in
Are there any positives to Open? Everything I hear about them makes them sound not so nice but it might just be the usual selection bias
Nah its just me, a bad choice for a luddite who values function over form. If I stuck to dry rides to cafes it would be sweet.
also would perhaps be fine with electronic group and some well placed grommets?
That seems to be the thought process with a few too many carbon bikes these days.
Hello Rene Herse tire naming!
i really like my open wide! i use mine moreso as a singletrack choice so it sees more abuse than the average gravel bike rider i think. lightweight, great geometry for what i wanted, takes a standard seatpost and stem, custom paint options, etc.
i also run full cable housing from the shifter to the derailleur which seems to alleviate the grime issues. no issues with shifting.
and while their frames are expensive, they’ve largely held steady on pricing over the past five years while other brands have bumped their prices up quite a bit.
Acetylene is much more fun, because unlike propane it really wants to explode. Sadly, drivers (at least in pdx) don’t notice xtracycles with a big old tank stuffed into one of the saddlebags as much as they do a tank standing up in the middle of a bob yak.
I’ve carried propane on my bike dozens of times and haven’t exploded yet.
I absolutely love that acetylene is explosive enough that it makes sense to store it dissolve in something that is highly flammable. With some junk in the tank, obviously
#thankssram
am i doing that right?
it always kind of freaked me out to have like 100psi of air pointing at my face but i guess i just pray that nothing will go wrong
you pretty much have to try to do this. for me it was “leave the shock pump on while the bike falls over on the ground”
Fixified a bitex road hub - that didn’t take long and obviously didn’t take too much effort because I’m fat and handicapped from heart stuff.
