mechanic of the year
Just lollin at an e pinarello exploding over here. Didn’t even know it was an older gentleman.
Reason #1 we don’t cobble together e-bikes is the possibility of being interviewed on the news when one blows up.
I wondered what that creaking was from my crankset
And it was the king bb I just RIP’d
Cant you just pop some new bearings in there?
I mean maybe but this will just happen again in another 2 years and I won’t fix it for another 4
assploded
Oh, a bit of polish and it will be as good as new. Not as a crank, but it would make a lovely bottle opener once you cut away the excess aluminum.
Ur cranks dead
Lucky you caught it. Was it creaking or were you just cleaning the bike or something when you spotted It?
even a risk lover would be hard pressed to enjoy continuing to ride with the knowledge you have. what’s the payoff? not spending $20 max on a new/used matching left crank?
I’ve been posting my broken bike shit in the wrong thread you guys
I’ve definitely had customers who insisted on continuing to ride their cracked cranks before. Always made them sign some kind of waver, but it’s kind of astonishing how many people see that and think “Yeah, but I’ll be fine.”
What’s the worst that could happen (besides knocking out your front teeth)?
at least it’s the type of broken crank that won’t impale your leg with a 1" wide jagged aluminum dagger.
I’m in no way risk averse and I would never ride that.
I tell people this all the time. “Look man, I will ride some janky stuff; I’ve got a carbon fiber frame that some guy repaired in his apartment at 3 AM. I wouldn’t ride this.”
The same people who think all bikes should be $150
“A thousand dollars? Thats how much you spend on a car!”
Uh okay
