Say it ain't so: The Assploded Bike Parts Picture Thread.

I reckon, was replacing a hanger. Altho with the amount of sleep they’ve had over 7 days he could have easily imagined a screw, or a giraffe, or any number of things ; ) Abdulah’s real entertaining. Big difference in tire size on the two front-runners. He’s on a Curve running Ekar I reckon.

Wow. Sad looking sight

geez that’s the most wrecked I’ve seen ultraendurance racers. The SRMR competitors looked almost as wiped out, but those two, listening to them talking, yikes.

Yeah, well I’m kinda surprised that Benky is duking it out with Abdullah, cos he is next level in my view. See how far Steve Halligan and Josh Ibott are behind, not to mention Sofiane, who admitted it would be a big ask for him anyway. Edit: Josh has scratched. As did Sara Hammond early on. Shes the only lady I’ve seen scare Lael.

I lost a chainring bolt in the velodrome infield grass during a gear change. I can imagine trying to find a bolt that small would be impossible in sand.

Luckily, I had a spare in my bag.

I have some spare random m5s in my flat kit, never used them but this anecdote makes me want to beef up my little emergency hardware store.

Cripes. Abdullah was a long way down, but came back and attacked. Took the win. Apparently there was a mean climb at the end. He was on gravgrav tires while the other guy was on 2.4s

Fillmore valve is down for the count. Didn’t like my Schrader adaptor when trying to use air compressor. Most I’ve ever spent on a set of valves and also the shortest lived valve I’ve owned. Really just need to buck up for the EVT inflator and be done with it. Not sure I should just go back to Stans valve. Anything solid out there for high flow valves?

That sucks, can it be fixed? Or warranty?

atmo if it can’t take an adaptor it’s garbage :atmo:

my pastime at the old shop was installing adaptors on coworkers bikes if they asked me to work on them. the catch is none of them were accessible without a tool, most of them needing more than a multitool

Am seeking warranty but after 10 months, I don’t keep receipts for small items like valves. If the SCB folks want to take the hardline, they’ll deny and I’ll move on. This was Rev 1 of the valve and they’ve since improved it, so hopefully they’ll recognize it was only half baked at time of release and send me Rev 2.

Lost my sole at surf city cross today! Someone heard me talking about it and ran over with a sole but it was someone else’s!

Was riding today and was changng down into a cross-chained gear whilst in small at the front and then this happened:

Still not sure what exactly happened but I suspect that the most likely cause was a filthy chain which had a tight link somewhere…

Can confirm Reserve/SCB warranteed with Rev 2 Fillmore valves, no questions asked. Should arrive tomorrow based on the tracking #. Very easy to submit the claim on Reserve site and good communication/follow up. I’d always heard the SCB/Reserve had above-average after-sales support, but never tried it myself.

Cranks went wiggly yesterday on my grocery run. Had to call partner for a rescue

I sheared the flange off the drive side of my white industries square taper bb and all my balls fell out

The notches for the extraction tool are on the loose flange. How to get the rest of the bearing cup out of the shell?

They need to with all the undersized pivots and hardware on their bikes…

That should be one thing

Not enough clearance for my light wires…

is the steel outer race of the cartridge bearing still in the aluminum cup that’s still in the frame?

if so, first use a hammer and punch to knock that out towards the inside of the frame

after that if the aluminum cup still doesn’t want to thread out, you can use a hacksaw blade to cut relief slots in it, or split it into pieces if you keep going
