Managed to get it spinning tapping a screwdriver with a hammer. There was just enough slot left on the cup to get a little purchase.
Dang.
Were those the supacaz ones that were on sale a while back? I’ve got 2 sets in my parts bins ![]()

Sure was!
There’s like three threads in there and the aluminum stem is like .2mm thick. Very flimsy.
They def are pretty shit for the valve cores.
Aw naw.
Is that sealant??
Tire seperated at the bead. Its a goner.
Yep it’s donezo. The tire was pretty roached anyway. I have a slightly less used identical tire that I tried first but couldn’t get it to seat so I clapped the old tire on and it seated NP. Checked on it an hour later and this was hissing and bubbling.
Update: I couldn’t get the other tire to seat so now I’m slumming it with an inner tube and a spesh armadillo turd.
If tire is <1 year old I bet Q will warranty it. They’re pretty good about handling tire defects.
I think it’s just about a year old. It has 984.8 worry free miles on it according to strava so I’m not too mad and I’m not gonna fight for a replacement. I don’t have the energy.
I ordered two more of these things. If either of those is defective, then I’ll try for a warranty replacement.
As far as I can tell, the Surly ET 26x46 is the ONLY tubeless tire that will fit between the absurdly narrow chainstays of the bullitt.
Bigger rear tire clearance is maybe the only thing I’d really like updated on the Bullitt frame?
650x47 instead of 26?
But tubeless is kind of the only reason. Schwalbe Marathon 26" tires never wear out anyway.
Having thru axles would he nice too, for a treat.
I’ve got 142/12 dropouts in my parts bin if I ever decide to ditch the di2 alfine. I’ve also thought of going 650b just to have better tubeless tire options.
Probably never going to change a single thing about this drivetrain now that I finally got it working good. Turns out IGH hubs really only work well when they have oil in them and just because it’s brand new doesn’t mean there’s oil in it.
I’ll trade you my di2 wheel and some but not all of the associated bits for those dropouts.
What kinda tire clearance do you think a 650 wheel would get. I have one with a 42mm Boken on it that I could try.
Eh, maybe? I dunno.
Stepped inside after a chilly ride, rolled my bike backwards for a second and heard a surprising snap!
Never seen this before but the b-screw came clean off this 8-speed med cage Campy RD. I guess I’ll find a cheap short cage one and do a cage swap.
Too beautiful to live
Thought I’d seen it all. Bikes are magical!
