I’m pretty bummed that I fucked up my bike. It really makes a lot of shit in my life harder since I really depend on it for daily transportation. Plus I was really excited for another bike camping trip in a couple weeks.

I think this is actually the first time a bike of mine has died in battle. Usually they die of old age.

I had some mid level 90s Bianchi road bike ages ago and really liked it, possibly the only Road Bike I really enjoyed. I rear ended a car that jammed on the brakes to grab a parking spot on a busy road and that was it. Frame and fork roached.

That’s how my beloved Schwinn Letour bit the dust. Rode right into the back of a taxi on Clark Street in Wrigleyville while drunk on a hot summer night.
That was the bike that turned me into a bike nerd. I took it apart and put it back together with like, a pipe wrench, a screwdriver and a chan-L-lock.

I’m just going to buy a new one. I still have most of my pandemic cash saved up so it’s not a hardship to replace, just deeply annoying. I’ll be back on the good bike by the end of august

my first real road bike was a Letour that was probably a size 49. had no idea it was too small until i went to college and a rowing teammate who was into bikes finally spoke up.
