I’d ask you to cool it with the puns. But I’m guessing you can’t stop.

I swear I have enough wheel problems for 10 people. This nipple let go while I was sitting on the couch and sounded almost like a gunshot. Last ride two days earlier was a rough gravel route in the middle of nowhere so it’s nice it waited until I was home.

The wheelset was short-spoked from the factory and after probably 8,000 miles of MTB/gravel this is the second nipple to go within 200 miles. Time to replace them all I guess. What’s interesting is that I’ve broken two spokes on this front wheel over time; both NDS head-out trailing. And now two nipples have broken to spokes that are NDS head-in trailing. The spokes look like they all the same too-short relative length NDS/DS.

I fucking hate wheels, man.

8000 miles is a good lifetime for wheels though

Big snap when I sat down after daycare drop off this morning and then seat and seat post parts yard sale’d all over the sidewalk:

I guess I would not recommend using an amazon special setback adapter with a cheap single bolt post (and I only weight 155!)

the vision in my head of what happened to you is really pleasing me

Taint hugs

glad it failed then and not while riding

Today the other caliper broke

Now I have a matching pair of yokozuna calipers in the same failureway

That’s a manufacturing defect
Send a photo to customer service (merry sales?) or the manufacturer

Failure analysis: a crack had propagated fully halfway through the cross section of the bolt. Wonder how long ago it formed???

Merry’s business model has consistently been to dress up cheaper knockoffs as pretend Japanese brands, and price it higher than the mass-market original.

here the arms of these don’t look like the normal Tektro models?

Damn, I thought they were a real brand with their cable/housing kits. But they do brakes that are chinese rebrands (ultimos) makes it seem sus

Are they a house brand?

I bought them from the yokozuna website.
they are indeed different arms than tektros. the main difference is whether the quick release goes around the arm or the arm goes around the quick release. you can see the point of weakness that causes the arm to twist off.
