I promptly landed face-first on the ground, with my hand stuck between the front wheel and fork blade. My wrist sheared off four spokes at the nipples.

…pokes at the nipples. I ended up with six stitches under my nose and two in my wrist, but no broken bones. I rebuilt the wheel and replaced the bent handlebars this past weekend (I told myself I couldn’t ride until my wrist was healed enough that I could turn a spoke wrench). I gave the frame and fork a close inspection, and everything looks fine. First ride is tomorrow.I’ll spare you the ER photos.

Brütal! A great reminder to stop before fiddling with front wheel adjacent shit, says the guy who has kicked front panniers back into place and nearly crashed.

the other day i got a piece of tape stuck on my front wheel, instead of stopping and removing the tape, i just frontside ted-shredd’d it off. everything was fine, but…

i won’t be doing that again.

I drag my shoes and gloves on my front tire all the time to remove debris/sharp things. The key is to reach out in front of the fork. I don’t see what the big deal is

I flatted a Horizon in the rain today. I guess my tire soup had dried up. I squirted a little bottle in there and it held until I weighted it and then started loosing air again.
I shoved a bacon strip in there and it worked.
What I’m getting at is that I’m down for a tiny hand tire wiper group buy.
