Say it ain't so: The Assploded Bike Parts Picture Thread.

Yea, don’t think I’ll be going roboshift any time soon and it’s got little to nothing to do with battery life. Although a wired group that had native magneto charging capability might make me fantasize or dither over it a little, I have no plans or intentions of ditching cables as long as they’re not limiting my component group range.

Granted I don’t log as many miles or need to shift as often as some, but di2 battery charge has never been an issue for me. Just make sure it’s charged every 1k miles or when I pull the bike out at the beginning of the season. Only 20 hours for AXS is a little absurd, but those people probably have a Garmin and everything else that they’re already used to plugging in every dozen hours so :man_shrugging:

If only the guy in Icarus had used cables instead of roboshift. Then, he might have figured out if all his doping had worked, instead of having to abandon because of a dead battery.

Yeah, it was quite funny to hear LA tell him he was over-doping.There must be a massive placebo effect from having your your whole programme designed for you by someone who you believe in.

There are some 8000 and 9000 di2 bits going for not much on the Internet these days. It’s unfortunate that the batteries, connection boxes, and wires cost so damn much

I don’t know about the 8000 & 9000s, but the 6870 bits work with a 6770 ew67 head (external battery only, but it’s easy enough to glue a cheap lipo 2-cell battery to the external battery mount and then use a regular 2-cell charger on it. As lagniappe, a couple of normal lipo cells give about 4-6× as much storage as the batteries.) And with an ew67, all you need is 5 of the connectors (2.5 wires, so $60, ugh) for a 2×11 setup and 2 connectors for a 1×11 (the B junctions? They’re just wire connections; I route my di2 inside the frame & use mini-jis connectors for the 3-way junction for the head + pusher + dangler.)

The cheapest 1×11 di2 I’ve got cost me ~$120, the most expensive was about ~$270. It’s hard to find danglers for less than about $70, though, and pushers are uniformly $absurd.

I wish I could find the source for male etube connectors. The stupid etube wiring is the one expensive bit that I can’t easily work around.

Heath’s HVAC makes more sense to me than Di2 setup

It’s just regular 2-wire CANbus that’s been obfuscated because it’s on a bicycle. If you can set up twisted pair ethernet, di2 is not a problem.

This is the new tire wall test

If you can setup a token ring network, then {advanced dithering} is not a problem

SONET is just token ring with different geometry.

just because you can setup a token ring network doesn’t mean you should :stuck_out_tongue:

also applies to advanced dithering

So what’s the over/under that soon I will have two Cambiums that need replacement carbon fiber tops?

Will you be gluing some sandpaper to the top of the CF to make it feel familiar ?

You must be accustomed to a different model of the cambium?

I have a Cambium that started separating. Whats the deal with replacement CF tops?

Good question! I bought mine used and Brooks couldn’t be bothered to sell me a replacement (and pretty much just blew me off when I inquired) so your guess is as good as mine.

They blew me off too and I bought mine new.
