Shimano Alfine wheel for 250USD - can nothing possiblie be wrong?

Hmm, I’m mighty tempted by those brifters. I’m not so happy with my Tektro levers anyway.

kowloon, I’ve got to decide between those and your jtek.
oh, I thought he was involved in the manufacturing end and decided to produce rims.

and I think they’re made in China.
You would be correct. The rims are made in China. It is the frame that will be made in Taiwan.

Damn it. Opting against the Alfine because I’m worried about not having sufficient range in the low end for touring.

Rohloffs occasionally go for 400 euro in Germany, so I’m keeping an eye out but otherwise I’m just forgetting about this whole IGH thing.

How hard or sloppy are Rohloffs to install on a non-Rohloff frame? I’ve got horizontal drops and for the cables I thought I’d just zip tie the 2nd shifter cable to the first, which will be guided properly through my frame’s braze-ons.
