anyone an expert in arcteryx jacket models? i’m sick of reading gear reviews, i just want a rain proof jacket that’s good down to 40 freedom degrees

Just get one with gore tex that is a little more than the price you want to pay. Preferably with pit zips.
Do you want a shell or a jacket? I’d suggest a 3 layer membrane in any system other than Goretex.

Goretex is just less breathable, bulkier, and not any more water resistant than some of the other systems like Pertex Shield, Neoshell, event. Gore Pro is reportedly much improved but as far as I know still non-stretch.
I really want to try Shakedry, but only when jackets made from it cost less that $400

They were calling it GoreTexOne or something, and then renamed it, but I think it’s the same stuff that they debuted a few years ago. I’ve had not great luck with Pertex, what garments would you reccomend?

I have this and it’s fantastic. Massive pit zips, good trim cut, stays dry. Replaced an old Patagonia stretch Schoeller jacket that got ripped up.
since that’s in san jose, it’s probably the same orange kelly frame i eyed at a bike swap a couple weekends ago!
That looks pretty great - I wish the black didn’t have the loud contrast color zippers, but the ink color looks nice. I bought a closeout REI house brand rain shell last winter that fits and feels like a trash bag, I’ll look into getting that Rab Firewall after I ruin the REI shell by trying to tailor it.

How is the housing length for flats and drops even remotely close?
What are you doing for brake levers?
I’ve done it enough times to know that it works for me. 8 speed xtr brake levers and TRP road levers with BB7s, on the front.
