Souplesse Casings and Bike Soup - The Tire Thread

Which is only a subset of the people for whom the gender spectrum folks are attempting to make a difference.

And now you’re a little further down that path. I tell you again that it’s not a path you should be taking, and you need to back off before you irrevocably beclown yourself.

That’s the third time you’ve threatened me in this thread. Cheers.

Your white male fragility does not reflect well on you.

C’mon… it’s not a threat to tell you that if you keep playing devils advocate for a toxic ideology people may think you actually support that toxic ideology.

I do, and I recognize that there’s a wide spectrum of trans folk with a wide variety of current and past chemistry, just as cis folk can have varied chemistry. but not all trans women are on HRT, and since there’s an inherent competitive advantage to chemistry that might more closely resemble a cis male’s, it complicates the field of women’s sports. that’s all I’m saying— not that trans women shouldn’t be allowed to compete, not that they’re not valid as women, just that establishing fairness in sport is complicated and this is one aspect that is particularly hard.

And again, this is for elite athletes and their respective governing bodies to try and figure out. Some doofus on youtube literally having zero education in the field and no dog in the fight should probably find something else to talk about… like tire rolling resistance.

We’re talking about a cis white bro with a largely cis white bro audience creating content on a subject to which his opinion should hold zero bearing. It’s a cyclical move designed to play to the confirmation bias of his audience.

I think it’s worth emphasizing that at the top levels of sport, governing bodies have had this stuff figured out for a long time. The reason this has come up lately is mostly just because the culture war has set its sights on trans issues IMO.

My aim was to carefully choose my words such that I am not playing devil’s advocate for toxic ideology. If I failed in that, I am sorry.

The dog I do have in this fight is what I perceive to be the tendency for folks to want to gloss over the well-established physiological distinctions between AFAB and AMAB folks. They are significant. This is only related to issues with trans folks in ancillary ways.

Advocates for trans-folk will assert very strongly that gender is a social construct, which it is. A subset of those folks take any discussion of the aforementioned physiological differences as an attack on the validity of one’s gender identity, which creates a messy argument because there’s a lot of science that supports those distinctions, but it’s all specific to biology which can’t be the final determinant of one’s gender identity. As far as I’m concerned a person is welcome to whatever gender identity they want to assume regardless of their physiology and whatever state of transition they might be in.

In these places where I’ve heard arguments that gender is a social construct and biology doesn’t matter, I’ve also gotten a chance to see what is the leading edge in physiological manipulation to better suit one’s gender identity. So, to some degree, it does matter, most especially to the people focused on well-being issues for trans folks.

This I get and largely agree with. It wasn’t my intention to start a contentious debate, just that I seemed to recall that video as being mostly innocuous. My recollection was that he hadn’t attempted to define ā€œfairā€, but he did. I’m with you in that this is for regulating bodies, AFAB and trans-women to deal with.

WTB Vulpine is a recent addition to this category.

Vittoria Terreno Dry is a great tire. The tan sidewall ones have less protection and are lighter.

Challenge Getaway is real good.

And as mentioned the Almanzo and it’s sibling the gravel grinder are top notch.

Amirite that GP5TLs are discontinued, and it’s GP5 S TL from now on?

I just attempted to pick up a set and that did seem to be the case

Doesn’t WTB have a disclaimer about using Stans rims?

I know they used to, I ran a wirebead nano on my stans rim because the tubeless wasn’t supposed to fit. I ran the wirebead with gizz in it and it dissolved after 1500 kms. That was my bad. I can’t find anything on their site currently. This tho.

And yet, despite the fevered imaginations of transphobes around the world, this has never happened.
