it’s so hard to not just ride roubaix 30/32s
actually they’re on sale for $37 a pop right now. might be impossible to not commit to another couple thousand miles.
what does 30/32 mean?
iirc they are being brave and admitting that with the range of rims out there, you can’t really say what width a tire is going to be.
they were similarly cagey in another direction about not selling officially tubeless wheelsets
It’s the best. I rode almost all summer on Runny Horse Bon Jovis, great for when every road ride turns into a gravel ride.
IIRC 30mm tread width, but the sides of the casing plump out to 32.
I’ve been eagerly waiting for this, gonna get em ASAP.
Trying to see if I can find em and:
Somebody’s scalping them.
free shipping tho
available to purchase now, available for delivery later! two kinds of availability in one transaction, what a bargain!
7075 is just more susceptible to corrosion and it’s nearly impossible to weld.
Is that why mine dissolved in last winter’s salt bath?
I’ve not had any issues with corrosion, so far. They’re well anodized. Also haven’t had the need to weld anything to 'em.
Yeah I’m mostly talking about oceanographic instrumentation. 6061 holds up way longer
Nothing rusts or corrodes for real in most of California.
I’ve been trying to not hoard another two sets. Such rockin’ tires.
Iunno if that’s completely true. I’m doing gravel rides through what were once salt ponds and if it’s wet at all, one needs to rinse off their drivetrain after or it quickly becomes a problem.
Most of California, yeah.
Sure. In marine use, Aluminum is often chosen for its corrosion resistance. It’s less noble than just about everything else, though.
i once did a rainy cyclocross race on a course that crossed a sand/gravel horse paddock multiple times. INSTANT rust. i think our bikes were rusting in between laps. i’ve never seen anything that bad.
Horse pee as rust accelerant: confirmed
So, setting up an old Roval 26" with a Conti speed king tire and the bead is super nice and tight but I’m getting leaking at the spoke holes, am I:
a. doomed
b. pulling off the tire and tape, cleaning and retaping
???
