Souplesse Casings and Bike Soup - The Tire Thread

Are you sure the cream wall even exists? I’ve already gotten a set of the black wall.

I believe you have a predicted ETA, I just don’t wonder whether it’s a lie or not. Supposedly these were supposed to be shipping last May, and I haven’t seen any vendor anywhere in the world with them.

Q is generally on point with this stuff. Not ALWAYS, but mostly. So who knows. I’ll know soon enough I suppose.

When you know, let me know. I’ll cancel my back order if Q has 'em and they don’t.

Oddly, the most reliable way I’ve found to get tires that are actually in stock is to order 'em from ebay.

So this ad is for a 40mm tire?

Can’t believe gravel is still a thing

“Gravine” is well on the way to running out of ideas

Gravel is the grunge to road’s rock and roll. At this point, it’s a counter-culture.

40mm is likely the biggest that Lion Tyres has equipment to make

and I think it’s a pretty good stopping point atmo, since at 50mm why not use any of the fancy XC World Cup MTB tires that have a lot more investment put into their development

Bike rumor says a 45mm is coming. I might give it a shot

The 45 is coming next month. The getaway has been out in 45 for over 6 months. I’m looking forward to trying it. I raced today on the getaway 40 and it still delivers the goods but a little more bite wouldn’t have been a bad thing on today’s course.

Continental SpeedKing II RaceSport black chili whatever such and such is a great tire and has unbelievably low rolling resistance.

I am thinking about picking up a set of Specialized 29er tires since my LBS has them on sale (Butcher front/Eliminator rear). They are offered in 2.6 or 2.3, I will be running them on Race Face AR30 rims, I’ve read a couple of reviews stating that the 2.6 runs small and the 2.3 bigger - has anyone run them and can comment on the sizing/

I would say the 2.6 run closer to 2.5. 2.6 butcher, 2.3 eliminator came on my enduro and it was fine. I have also run just dual 2.3s with no worries.

Thanks!

I run the 2.6 Butcher on Arc30 and the two pair up really well. Bead fitment is right amount of hard to get on, and sidewall profile looks good. I’d agree that they are likely closer to 2.5. I run them front and back the grip is best I’ve ever used.

I went with the 2.6 front/2.3 rear because that’s what they had left. The front went on easier than the rear but it is holding air (without sealant) like a champ, both made a satisfying snap/crackle/pop at about 40psi with the floor pump.

Due to my latex allergy, I have been using Specialized 2 bliss sealant and it has been OK. During my search for latex-free tire sealant, I discovered that WTB TCS Tubeless Tire Sealant is made with synthetic latex - has anyone used it or have any other suggestions?

Is the concern having a major flat and having to put in a tube?
