I’ve been on the 2.2" race kings for a while as a Thunder Burt replacement and really love em. So meaty, surprisingly quick. Conti is doing good stuff lately. Gonna go for the Terra Speed next on my more road-ish bike.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but I got some Tufo tubeless 25mm a while back and they’ve been better than ok. Maybe 6-700 km on them with no dramas on the PUB rims, fast, grippy, etc. Passed the supple test. Fucken cheap. A+, will keep riding until they die

In other news, I just got an update on my backordered tan wall Conti GP5k TR AS 35s… I think I ordered them in March 2023 and got an “expected date” of April 2023, which then slipped another half dozen times then radio silence for a couple months and a new “expected date” of April 2024. I thought I’d finally get 'em, but just now, “May 2024”.
This is hilarious. They made 25s and 28s, I’ve seen 'em in the wild. I think they just chose not to make 32s and 35s and didn’t tell anybody.
Getting that Specialized Eliminator on my back wheel was torture! HY it stayed inflated over night.
My Bridge Club came with Rene Herse Switchback Hill ultralight tires. The bike is exclusively used for riding with baby, and I want something with a little tred.
Rides have been mostly on MUP, but we’re branching out to light singletrack. I want a good sweet spot tire that’s durable enough that I don’t have to think about punctures or replacing frequently but not so heavy that I have the emotional weight of high rolling resistance hanging over my head while I pedal a baby around. I want her growing up knowing that she deserves the best.
Considering Gravelking SK (53mm might fit under the fenders) or WTB Venture 48mm. Any better Goldilocks tire I should go for?
Ultradynamico has their “robusto” casing now and several treads and sizes to choose from. $$$

For 650b, I think the preferred tire of Tarck is the IRC Boken Plus. Lots of good things have been said about the Vittoria Terreno tire in both diameters.
I think the new hotness is Continental Terra.

I like the Boken plus. I ran some Surly ETs late last year, not a bunch of miles on them yet, but they seem decent if you want more tread than the Bokens.

These are the worst tires I’ve ever used. The tight tread likes to find every piece of glass on the road and suck it deep into the tire. After fixing one flat, I found several other pieces of glass in the tread just waiting to cause more problems.

I have finally worn out my rear 650b 2.0 Specialised fastrak, on my OPEN. I can’t find anything else thats close. Gotta be 2.0 I think. 2.1 is too close to stay.
Any ideas? XC gravgrav kind of riding.
Edit: Found a Raceking 2.0 in the slow compound.
My first 650b experience was the Horizon and I couldn’t understand why people liked them. It was so bad.
I had heard good things about the Horizons and ordered them for an incoming Endpoint back in 2017. Honestly I thought they sucked and recall hearing something about the earlier/previous Horizons being better because of the tread area was thinner compared to the ones I got.
But then the Byway was the best of all worlds.
I had the original Horizons. They were fine. Nothing special, but it was a limited selection in that size at the time. I put a zillion zero-problem miles on them and when I finally retired them, they probably had 2000 more miles in the tread, but the sidewalls were all frayed around the bead.
