How often do you pray to our lady of infinite spin?

Placebo. I’ve got one that sounds like it has cake sprinkles floating around inside it.

It’s always the tape. Except when the tape is barely there but somehow working?!

I’m so confused. Maybe I mangled it while removing the tire.

I don’t see a single spot on that rim where the tape is going far enough. Nice lift. How long was the tire on there?

Is your rim entirely full of congealed sealant?

Like 4000 miles! It was totally worn out. Never had a single flat on it that whole time.
As far as I can tell, there was no sealant in the rim. I sucked ~2oz of sealant out with a syringe before I removed the tire.
I’m thinking I must have managed it during tire removal, I’ve just never had this happen before.

Yea looks like the tape glued itself to the tire with sealant and then the whole thing shifted with you removed the tire. I’ve never seen it so extreme before.

BTD has the Caracal Race @halbritt

I don’t really have enough miles for a proper review but off two rides, so far, it’s a great tire. A little more supple than the GP5000 AS and feels just as fast and lively on pavement but much more cushion and speed off-road. True to size on i19 rim.

Says “backorder”. Are you sure they have them?

I still have a backorder form 2 or so years ago for my tan wall GP5k TR AS 35mm.

The best tire ever is coming back in 26" complete with Black Chili compound… I’d have no problem going 26" over 650b just to run this tire.

how many TLR disc rims are there in 559 now?

Light bicycle has some. I had a set that I gave to @Rusty_Piton . They’re nice.

In other news my gp5k AS TR 35mm cream wall that have been back ordered for 2 years might ship in January. The estimated date went from April 2025 to February and now January.

Or make it’s just bike Tires Direct fucking with me.

those would be fun on my cigarette bike

There are disk only Alex Adventurer II out there but they’re tough to find sometimes.

DT Swiss 533d rims are available in that size now

I mean, you can run rim-brake rims with discs…

but if we’re ignoring rim-brake stuff like the Alex Adventure II, Velo Orange Voyager, Velocity A23 and Cliffhanger, Crust and such…

Off the top of my head, you’ve got the Velocity Aileron and Blunt 35, Stans Crest Mk4 and Arch Mk4, the good ol’ unbreakable DTSwiss EX471, a couple of DH-heavy Spank rims. Probably several other heavy DH rim options that I’m not aware of. And like Heath says, there are some china-carbon options. Light Bicycle makes an i23 hooked rim; I’m happily running some BTLOS i25 hookless rims. Nextie used to make some terrifyingly light i20 26" rims; they took them off the website in early 2024 but I think you can still special-order them by email.

My brothers in tarck, all the wonders of the world (including 26” tubeless wheel sets) are available on AliExpress.

I have one of these and it is the only tubeless tire I have had to resort to an air compressor to set the bead and it loses a lot of air. I also don’t ride that bike nearly enough and I am about to retape that wheel and try different sealant.
