yeah some awzm dude with lots of dogs and a badass house up in NY somewhere sent me some!!!
they are on rims “aging”, now that i’m rolling the davidson again, I’m probably going to glue them up soon, i imagine my rear tire will be worn soon.
I heard that Finish Line (because it doesn’t dry up, or at least not very fast) is a godsend in tubulars, just BTW. The guys at a local shop basically only use Finish Line for that purpose, in tubeless they use the usual orange seal.
its good in innertubes. awful in tubeless tires, but great in innertubes.
Haven’t had any issues with Finish Line in my DH casing tires for the record.
Oh fuck I can’t believe I forgot this. That’s what I’m doing wrong.
Goddammit I’m just not a good mechanic anymore.
I am backing veloflex. I had a pair of clinchers dug sold me and rode them into the supple supple ground.
I had some 23mm tubs for a year or so and they held up well until they got thin and fladded
I’ve been “aging” some NIB Veloflex Roubaix since 2012. Gosh I better sell them or ride my road bike with tubs once it gets warm, eh?
32mm gravelking update: still won’t seat. Put tube and extra cat hair in, am letting it sit overnight. Will ride it tubed this weekend if it can’t quit being a total fucking dickhole about inflating tubeless
Hot Q have you tried the soapy water thing
That has seated every tricky tire I’ve encountered
I should try that next.
I’ve been living in a fool’s paradise of rims that are made for tubeless and tires that are narrow enough that they seat pretty easily, so I’ve not had to learn most of the tricks for dealing with asshole gooddam tires that just fucking suck and are bullshit
oooh now someone’s talking my language. I like the idea of my bike being very fancy even in the places nobody sees.
I guess I’ll try the soapy water deal.
Are Panaracer tires generally tougher to get to seat than Schwalbe / Hutchinson / etc?
Well, Panaracer makes Compass tires.
No they don’t…
They make Runny Arse tires.
I had a tough time seating GK’s on KOM i25’s, I think it was harder to mount the damn things. I found what worked for me was double tl rim tape, bead in the center channel of the rim, it looked like my tyre bead was pinched together, release air tank reservoir and pretty much this:
- central channel of the rim:
- use palm of your hand and depress a section of the tyre so it sits right on top of the valve
- Release booster, seat the tyre?
YMMV
WTH two days in a row my rear has been flat
Don’t see any milk trails or foreign objects, advice?
Are you sure your sealant isn’t completely dried out?
Thanks for this, I smush the tire down, but don’t have an air reservoir . Maybe I should invest in one?
Nope, how long does that take to happen? Will try adding a bit when I get home.
