Souplesse Casings and Bike Soup - The Tire Thread

Does your tire say “TLC” on the sidewall?

There are a TON of 32mm Gravel Kings that were sold as tubeless that absolutely are NOT.

Different bead.

We were sold a bunch that were billed as tubeless by the distributor, by when we actually examined them realized were the same construction as the non-tubeless GKs in smaller width.

I’m not sure if this was ever actually resolved because we haven’t ordered anything smaller than 35mm since.

Have you done a proper tubeless voodoo spreading dance?

Anywhere from 3-6 months is pretty typical.

I did a real fancy dance to get the sealant spread.

The sides of the tires have the TLC designation, and the tire bead shelf feels pretty pronounced. It could be a mislabeled bunch, but it doesn’t seem so?

Added more sealant, appears to be holding air again lol

I puncture flatted a tire once only to discover that all the sealant was gone, but it had been holding air just fine for who knows how long.

I let my milk dry out a lot. A tire holds air without being wet IME but it will not seal. That’s when you get a small puncture and are sprinting home on sloppy 10psi wheels.

Nicest 24" slick tires?

Vee mk3, Maxxis Torch

Tioga Powerblock?

I don’t think they make the nice S-spec folding version in 24" unfortunately

Maybe Schwalbe One?

Do you want something skinny for a recumbent? Or something wide for for a sorta-mini-velo?

Oh I’m thinking about Igor’s mini-velo.

I want to build one up as light as possible but yeah I want at least 32 mm tires. Preferably skinwall.

This could be as much fun as my Moulton but without the irritating bouncy bounce.

That uses 20" wheels. Then yeah, Powerblock S-specs, or maybe Fastrs.

Or maybe go fergalicious and run the Alienation tubeless tires and Mischief rims in 28h

Oh yes you are right

I have a 20" Hookworm in the clyde fork on my xtracycle.
The tread is like 1cm thick and it’s wire bead and weighs about as much as the fork itself and will probably outlive us all.
Don’t be like me. Don’t buy a Hookworm.

but where else can you get tread that goes just about all the way to the bead

It’s like a moto gp tire used for an extremely not moto gp situation

edit: no chicken strips on my cargo bike tires.

this is an unusual development
