anyone spin out their back tire when they start moving after a tarckstand? shit always throws me off.
I’ve only done it climbing out of saddle in the wet. Kinda scary.
I had that happen once crossing a metal grated drawbridge on my tallbike, scarred the fucking shit out of me, especially since the tire not only spun but slipped sideways. Luckily I didn’t fall but waaayyy scary.
riding in the snow today i was spinning the entire way up campus (up hill). i thought i was going to fall cuz its been a while since i rode in snow.
and i dont really sprint too often in the rain. so that doesnt really happen to me.
happened to me in the rain at the start of a very steep hill on a slick sidewalk. i pushed down and there was just no friction, it threw my balance and i did a full front flip into a transformer box and landed on my head. there were no cars around and this girl, who saw it happen, comes up and asks if i was hit by a car…wtf? yes, an invisible car…on the sidewalk.
Happens to me every day in the wet here. The wet leaves suck hardcore…
the reason i ask is i run gatorskinz and its been raining, a couple days ago i spun my back tire as i started to go. i think i was just leaning a bit too far forward cuz im running 49x16
wet leaves are total sluts
This is why winter is for spinning gears, easy to modulate in poor conditions.
Also, leaves be bitches. I wiped out on some hidden in the gutter when rounding a corner. Front wheel wiped out, head hit the curb, hospital for stitches. My wrists were fucked for almost a year afterwards. Soft tissue damage is fun for no one.
I spin it on 53x19. I think it’s just how hard you torque the wheel on initial acceleration plus how much or little grip your tires have. I got a Pro Race 2 on the rear… oh and I accelerate out of the stoplight seated for the most part, so it’s not from leaning forward.
Shit happens to me on painted crosswalks all day.
metal grated drawbridge on a tallbike?
…i dont even know what to say about that.
I did this the other day, but it was because I forgot I had my front brake on.
Small drawbridge…
The road in china is, for some reason always very slick. So much more than any of the streets i have ridden. US/Taiwan.
And when it gets foggy its like Tokyo driff out here. the worst!
all the time. i have so much powa!!!

must be all the pollution.
It’s something you gotta fuck around with a while before you feel in control. I have been doing it on purpose a lot lately.
i’m always more worried about dry pavement. whenever i sprint, i seem to have a roadrunner effect on the road, which is to say i accordion it.
