Fuck that ripoff bell. I’m usually not too uptight about that sort of thing, but it’s such a blatant rip, and the Spurcycle people put some genuine time and effort into the design of theirs it kills me to see it knocked off so comprehensively.
Im glad the knockoff sounds like shit (like most small bells I’ve tried). That vid helps, but if you haven’t heard a Spur up close and in real life you’re missing my favorite part. It sounds of musical instrument quality with a beautiful set of overtones and long sustain.

TBH I think they Both sound like shit. I have an aluminum Crane that sounds so much more pretty, but bike bells are supposed to get people’s attention not sing them a fucking lullaby.
every alu bell I’ve ever heard has been a plink plink thing, Eric is on the money with the spurcycle’s tone and sustain, I was amazed how well its steel dome could resonate compared to brass.
The knockoff sounds like shit. And I’d rather give my money to the people that actually did the work in designing the thing.
