Sturmey-Archer 3-Speed Fixed Gear Hub

This has 3x the simplicity

It is simpler to flick a lever than to change a cog.

nah, it’s about the Zen. and as my learned Master Po would say: “Zen is never simple. Now go clean out the chicken coop or it’s the hose again.”

Nah. Fixed is about never coasting.

i giggled like a lass.

Now there’s another bike on the list of builds sitting around in my head, waiting for money.
Yeah. I would consider this for my Cross Check - maybe with a dynohub up front.
YES. This is something to think about for my Cross Check also. Sounds way better than that 2 speed Sansin fixed hub I couldn’t figure out…

More news on this from BikeRadar. Apparently the price point is estimated to be $140-160. No word yet on how it affects the proverbial zen.

Just saw the (not final) shifters:

So sensible! And classy!

Exactly the options I wanted. There’s also a spec sheet. And the cogs are Shimano freehub splined.

I just squealed like a little girl when I saw the bar end shifters, then my wife yelled from the other room “What do we have to buy??”

hahahahahaha

What’s going to happen when I run one of these brakeless? I’ll probably make it blow up.

I don’t know if you’re joking or not, but absolutely don’t do this. It’ll definitely destroy the hub.

I suggested bar-end shifters on the Sturmey-Archer blog. I like to think that my voice was heard. I’ll totally buy one, now.

Haha, my wife totally knows the “hey honey” that I use when I’m about to tell her I’m gonna buy something.

This thing is tempting me to break my newly created and not yet fully implemented two bike rule.

Rules are made to be broken

so is backpedaling and skidding a no no on this hub or what?

group buy.

if you have to treat the damn thing like a freewheel hub then why bother?

Zen.
