Sun M13 II Opinions.

I am still the hugest noob when it comes to what to look for in a bike rim, so please school me.

I’m looking for some cheap, all black wheels with no machined braking surface.

I found these and they seem like a good deal but then again, I’m a total moron.

Are they decent?

They’re probably fine if you just want some inexpensive wheels. You could probably get something together with aeroheads for not much more.

I like box rims.

I got friends who have them, held up fine through over a year of riding shitty streets. A great deal, good looks, I’m personally a fan. What bike will they be going on?

The M13 is a really popular rim with a great reputation. I can’t imagine you’ll have any problems with those wheels.

Rad! I’m stoked to hear this.

They’re going on my Wheat Kilo TT. I’m thinking of running a skinwall tire on them, too. I think it will look pretty sharp.

will look really sharp!

Yeah, do that. If you buy them from bicyclewheels.com, have a shop tension the spokes (might even be a little out of true). The cxp-22’s I got from there definitely needed it. Spending the $30-40 after ordering them will really pay off in the long run.

Oh fuck, this throws a wrench.

Anybody ever dealt with this site?

This is just going to boil down to a matter of preference. Both are perfectly fine rims which will last you many miles of happy riding with minimal maintenance. Now, do you want a deep section or a box rim? If you want a box rim, get the Suns. Deep section, get the Velocitys.

One is really no better than the other.

deep vs? anyone?

Fuck a veep, go with the suns. That’s just my take on it though.

you’ll tire of the veeps before too long, much sooner than you will of box section rims.

Maybe I’ll get both.

Anybody ever bought from that dp76 site?

I got them for the last build on my road bike and do not care for them. They seem to require constant truing. The rear developed some nasty cracking around the eyelets. Granted, I had quite a few miles on it at that point, but still not cool.

Fuck.

looks like it’s only a front wheel.

i ordered parts from them, they weren’t in stock, it took a long time. but i got the parts and it was cheaper than anywhere else online

Oh god, an embarassing oversight on my part.

Thanks dude, you are a savior.
