How is it better? Asking honestly, I dont know shit about e bikes and I am going to get one to ride into the ground for the next 3-5 years.
Like… I wont spend 2k more to get a carbon MTB frame…
The specialized goes to 28mph and looks better?.. how am I getting 2bongs more bike with the xtracycle?
steel is real, they’re the OG, larger wheels, dialed geometry, and an actual ecosystem of bags and racks. maybe the specialized is better for you, but everything on the xtracycle is going to be supportable by your lbs and you can sell it on for a significant proportion of your purchase price when you’re done.
The JA thing atmo are these ebike makers specing weird tire sizes that aren’t widely available or aren’t available from anyone except them. That’s what ultimately turned me against buying a Benno Boost back in 2017.
In this boat right now. I already have a Clydesdale I like, but conversions are just so janky and unappealing even if it gets an e-cargo bike out of a cargo bike I’ve already got, plus I have no clue what the durability would be like. The Spec Haul is supposed to be a great bike but it’s so goddamn ugly and stupid looking. R&M Load is WAY out of budget. Then add in that it needs to fit in an elevator and have a removable battery and I want a mid-drive and it gets complicated and my eyes glaze over and I go back to working.
I think the CYC that @Jacobell will soon carry might fit the bill. I’m considering it to electrify the Lorry even if the easier/cheaper thing might have been a closeout REI ebike
What really blows my mind is that regardless of whether your weird tire size is proprietary or not, nobody, not even Schwalbe, sells tubeless tires in any cargo-friendly configuration. Except I guess Surly, but then you have to find and fit fenders for 2.5" tires which is its own headache
REI ebike would be so easy and cheap, but idk if I want a small hub motor. If I did buy a new bike I’d be getting rid of the Clydesdale and I don’t know if I want to do that either!
It’s OK, I haven’t ridden the long one but got a few miles in on the short one. It’s plenty powerful but the hub drive doesn’t feel as natural as the mid drive on the Xtracycle. Honestly the only thing IMO the haul has on the xtra is the optional throttle. The Xtracycle has thru axles and pretty much every component is 2-3 steps higher spec than the Haul. But the Haul is pretty OK for the price, definitely better than a radpower.
