On the older ones, the elastomers degrade, the pivots need frequent rebuilds, and the damping cartridge pukes. The newer ones had little Noleen coilover shocks and grease fittings. I rode one of those for a decade and never really serviced it.
They basically collapsed sideways somehow. They were both racing them on the national XC circuit tho so were giving them a fairly hard time. They were the elastomer ones.
Those are all fantastic reasons to ignore them then.
Is this the worst longtail design? Probably.
It gets worse the longer I look! Left hand belt drive that transfers to a right side chain drive?!?
It’s really stupid and I’m into it, aside from the drivetrain crossover which exists for some reason I’m failing to grasp
Longtail bikepacking bikes have terrible rear traction already and I can see this one getting pushed a lot
don’t forget the 30-40mm travel fork
and no dropper
The Noleen-branded “Crosslink” jawns were decent. I found the J-shaped axle path to be great for single-speeding, off the saddle climbing. Never messed with the electronic “Smart Shock” examples.
The new Soma mini velo. Looks like there’s no way around a Rusty stack and some really high rise bars, but it’s not bad lookin
More info here
Honestly with a longer BMX stem and some 9-10" rise bars this could be dope as fuck.
The ai leaking into meatspace and building old bicycles
(I didn’t remember that he built derailleur bikes with the weird geo)
funny to have the pursuit tt angle and then an extended ht and tall stem obviously painted to be exposed
Guess if you swing your leg over the front of the bike it make sense
Lol their titanium model is called tight anus.
Living the 00s fixie dream, complete with the saddle chain.
