I think I’m gonna sell my HG and buy a Bike Friday. Talk me into this.
I loved the HG but it’s just a hybrid now and I have other hybrids that are more useful. An Al Packa would be useful in a different way and I’m extremely folder curious.
Anyone want a medium first run HG with a box 9sp group, klampers, white ind rear hub, metrea front hub and Jones bars?

You likely know it, but bike Friday is less “folder” and more “easy take aparter” I think. More about easy travel via disassembly and less about getting it small on the train platform to make the commute easier.
It folds to under amtrak requirements, which is all I’m looking for. Figure a well placed strap will hold it all together.

I guess she does have the bars off and the seatpost out so yeah, I guess it is more of a take-aparter.

The bars are at least captive because of the cables. The seat post fully removed is more annoying if you are juggling folded bike and bags getting onto transit. And it seems like a step backward from their old bikes where the seat tubelet folded down.
The Swift is also cool but also suffers from seatpost removal.
i still really want a Brompton but have no real need

A local dealer has/had a sparkly purple Brompton and I kinda want to build a new life around it.

I’d buy a brompton if a very good deal presented itself to me, but the BF has such a wider use case that I think it’s the way to go. Plus no proprietary drivetrain/brake parts. In the event that we end up living in NYC (0% chance), the brompton would be choice #1.

the list goes on and on with Brompton. it’s really annoying.

everyone thinks it’s so easy to pack a brompton and then they get a look at the bear suit you’re required to wear while riding it and it’s not so simple.
