tarck measures shit thread (tires, etc...)

I think it’s time this subject had its own thread. These kinds of questions seem to come up pretty frequently.

Buffalo Bill - Don’t you help maintain a spreadsheet with a buttload of tire measurements?

Just 650b tires: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhJ3Eg2EndMUcFpsLUVBTm5XWWk3aGlEVXZfS2pvTHc#gid=0

I haven’t found any similar efforts for tracking dimensions in other rim sizes.

There is one for 29er tires that just tracks weights: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApcNMgTrSzkTcmpCbmF5Y0Q0cmd6VGdTN0JsUWotQnc#gid=0

Eventually, I swear I’ll get this into google spreadsheet form. There are also several tire/rim combos at home that I have yet to measure. For now here’s a bunch of stuff, both mine and gathered from friends. Please add to it.

AW=actual measured width
AH=actual measured height
RW=rim width
HoW=height at widest point. I think I’m the only one who measured
this, mostly just matters for knobbies when trying to figure out if
the wide spot is at the casing center or up on the corner knobs.

Tarck is about owning a nice set of calipers.

is it bigger than a babys arm?

speaking of which, where is the easiest place that’s not the internet to score a cheap set? i can’t remember ever seeing any during my perusals of your average small town hardware store. definitely not a harbor freight in sight…

home depot, perhaps?

Surely they’d have some at almost any hardware store. Maybe you just gotta ask.

I’d skip the depot and go to a smaller joint, like an Ace or a True Value.

Anyone got a michelin pro race 3 25mm on a23/HED Belgium/Archetypes/TB-14?

“My johnson is 12 inches long.”

“Interesting, but it doesn’t sound like a band name.”

resist nomad 45 on an MA40 = 39mm

resist nomad 35 on an open pro = 31mm.

Awesome. Thanks for posting that.

Whoa. 35 nomad on a OP that probably measures around 18mm internally. Giggity. Wonder what it’ll measure out to on a 22m rim.

If it’s measures anything like a 45 nomad, it will be in the ballpark of 32 mm. And it may depend on the psi; on my project bike, the 45 nomad + A319 is 43mm wide at ~40psi, 42mm at 60psi.
