That's a nice rack you got there; shame if something happened to it...

I suspect the best way might be a steel version of the soma rack with a beefier tang at the crown, and also with the lower struts non adjustable but also untriangulated. I’ve found with my steel rack that it’s relatively easy to bend the lower struts around a bit without breaking it as long as there aren’t extra stiffening tubes like Fred’s early racks had, and it retains its stiffness when installed on the fork. That way you could just bend the lower legs to adjust for fork braze on spacing and level the platform and then use the tang to lock it in that position. It would also help if those lower struts attached at wider points at the front of the platform instead of right in the middle as it is

General opinion on the Origin8 front rack? Seems like it might not be any wigglier than the cheap Soma eco porteur, and cheaper.

every origin8 product that I’ve ever used has been a steaming pile of dogshit

that being said, my buddy seems to like his rack from them.

That’s a mark’s rack, same as the rivdork one. It’s fine, but something more purpose built would be super nice.[/quote]

Nope this one: https://crustbikes.com/products/crust-rack/

Yes but it’s chromoly

I have a pair of handlebars that I love!

Their rebranded Cane Creek lizard levers were fine, but yeah a lot of it is duff.

huh this is surprisingly nice: https://shop.mashsf.com/mash-front-rack.html

badass finish options as well

I wonder what alternative stays will work with that?

Yeah, wonder why they don’t offer two different stay options to sweeten the demountable feature.

Ohh they really beefed up the tang, nice.

RE: struts. I would try some of this hardware:

Blackburn and Trek also have simlar rack hardware but I’m not sure if it’s available separately. And there’s always the Wald adjustable struts.

Wait, actually I would probably try to grab the struts from one of these to try:

I’ve got the salsa struts. They’re heavy af

That’s a pretty clever design for track/fixie/no braze-on forks. It looks like it mounts on 9mm axles. I wonder if it would work with QR. Also, no way that tang is fitting behind a brake caliper. That thing is thiccc.

DQ: What don’t people like about marks rack?

I think I mentioned this is whatever fucking thread spawned the rack chat. I’m surprised yall approve. I certainly approve but then again you’d have to take my cetma from my cold dead hands.

Literally everybody on this forum complains that the tangs are too thin and weak on most racks. Suddenly a thick tang appears, “dang that’s too thick!”

I approve of the tang thickness, if not its attachment to the platform
