The impossible, what to tell normal people to buy for me

What sort of cool gifts are out there that you’d be stoked to get?

I think keeping the pricepoint at $100 max would be safe for many.

I go through this every year. Non-cycling people don’t know what to get me and I can’t think of anything cool.

$$$, or the last thing I was waffling about on Amazon.

I bet the knifechat and watchchat threads are good for a couple of gifts. Also kickassLEDflashlightchat. Also EDC chat.
For bike stuff, any Revelate thingy or Apidura or other nice bikepacking bag, if there are any in that price range.

Other items I usually cheap out if buying for myself, but would be cool to get something nicer as a gift:
A kickass set of flat pedals.
A narrow-wide ring.
Really nice housing and inner cables.
Titanium anything (bottle cages, bolt kits, that sort of thing).
Upgraded or just blingy anodized jockey wheels, stem top cap, etc.

Titanium bling is indeed nice. Any cool links to stuff for me or the bike that’s not grossly overpriced?

I have one of these, a similar solar-powered inflatable lantern. Surprisingly bright, surprisingly long-lasting. We use it all the time.

Dry bags are always handy: https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Products-3-2dPack-Ultimate-Sack/dp/B00DCI3SLK

Thanks guys. I put here since it’s sort of bike part stuff but OT movement fine by me.

Was thinking about a good Stainless Steel Vacuum Bottle

Spurcycle bell?

That’s one thing I would enjoy that I would never spend my own money on.

knipex pliers wrench.

pretty much the coolest.

Yeah I have a pair of those in all my important tonics for a reason.

One of these… or two, or three. I’m always losing them. Great for tubeless valve stems.

I always get expensive socks. I love love love the Assos winter socks but I’m too cheap to buy them myself. Rapha socks are really nice too. I tend to wear them on and off bike all winter.

A Leatherman.

I have other better tools but it’s always so convenient to use the Leatherman for so many little odd jobs around the house instead.

It also goes with me on every bike tour and hike.

Those Knipexes above and a Leatherman Wave are both great suggestions.

I would also suggest a Mini Griptilian or a Magic Flight Launch Box.

Or a boot/glove dryer.

this is a real problem for me. people ask me what i’d like and i tell them. then i get random stuff that i don’t/won’t use and feel bad about asking to return it.

i think cool, non-bike things are a quality belt, nice socks, maybe a personalized mug.

For $100 you could get some good body/personal care stuff, tech stuff, or good general utility stuff. That amount at Aesop will treat you nicely for several months, or buy a basic Kindle, or some potent potables with the appropriate glassware. It’s also about the cost of TSA Precheck if you travel frequently or a half year of Netflix if you don’t.
